The City of Weston was built on land that was originally part of Florida’s beautiful everglades. Arthur Davis was the original owner of 15,000 acres and the primary developer ARVIDA that later became the city of Weston. The development itself was originally known as Indian Trace, which went through many changes before deciding on a development plan for the town. In 1884, the first homes were completed and in 1991 with over 5000, residents Weston needed some of them to reside on the board of supervisors. In 1995, the board decided that Weston residents would be better served by becoming a town of its own rather than annexing to another neighboring city. In 1996, the residents voted that just that should happen.
With the lovely Everglades on its westernmost edge, the City of Weston is an attractive planned city with intimate neighborhoods, conveniently placed business and retail districts, and attractive town center, and amphitheater, an excellent hospital, good schools, and plenty of parks and places to relax out of doors.
